How does it work?
Sustainable intensification involves using resources efficiently by reducing water, fertilizer, and energy waste. At the same time, this practice aims to protect ecosystems and maintain soil health. It also means using inputs more efficiently and reducing unnecessary chemical use. In addition, it focuses on improving resilience by preparing farms for droughts and other effects caused by climate change.
Precision agriculture technology
Precision agriculture technology uses analytical instruments, such as GPS guidance and drones, to optimize farming and precisely manage plant varieties. This technology is what helps farmers water and apply fertilizers to their land precisely. Consequently, waste is reduced, input costs are lowered, and crop yields increase while also reducing environmental impact.
Bioproducts
Bioproducts are eco-friendly solutions which farmers can use in their daily practices. These products not only keep crops and soil healthy, but they’re also environmentally friendly. These bioproducts include biofertilizers and crop treatments that allow farmers to rely less on synthetic substances. This practice helps promote long-term sustainability while maintaining environmental sustainability.
Both of these tools allow for more food production and reduced environmental impact. These tools are the foundation of sustainable intensification, a practice that has been and will continue to support farmers in staying financially strong and environmentally sustainable.
