Beyond the classic gingerbread mean and fruit cakes, there’s a whole world of sweet treats out there that you have you’ve yet to explore. Lebkuchen (Germany)
Similar to but unlike the classic gingerbread cookies, the Lebkuchen offers a charmingly soft and chewy bite. These cookies use Lebkuchengewürz, a delicious mix of festive spices, and are traditionally brushed with a glaze of icing sugar and lemon. As these cookies are quite cakey, they are cut into simple shapes such as stars, hearts, and circles. Polvorones (Mexico)
Also known as Mexican Wedding Cookies, polvorones are rich, sweet, buttery, cinnamon cookies that make frequent appearances during weddings, Christmas celebrations, and many other special occasions alike. White Christmas (Australia)
Even in places where Christmas falls in summer, unique traditions emerge. White Christmas is a classic Australian holiday treat traditionally made with a mixture of glacé fruit, desiccated coconut, sugar, and Rice Krispies.
