By Thomas D. Seeley. This novel explores the complex behavioural, social and survival dynamics of bee colonies and how wild bees living in managed colonies are in crisis. The novel explains how honey bees that live in nature differ from honey bees that are kept by beekeepers. Seeley demonstrates a new approach to beekeeping (Darwinian Beekeeping) which allows honey bees to use the survival skills they have used for the last thirty million years, and to evolve solutions to the new challenges faced today in our world. Seeley provides a way to use the principles of natural selection to guide their practices, and gives insight on a new vision of how beekeeping can better align with the natural habits of the honey bees.

The Journeys of Trees by Zach St. George.

Forests are one of nature’s many beauties, and anytime a tree dies, new ones sprout! When new trees grow in the same direction, the whole forest begins to migrate at quick rates! Today, however, many obstacles have come up such as deforestation, invasive pests transported through global trade, and especially our climate changing at a faster rate than usual! This novel includes a mixture of science reporting and travel writing as it explores the evolution of forests by spotlighting five specific trees: giant sequoia, ash, black spruce, Florida Torreya, and Monterey pine. Journalist Zach St. George, pays visits to forests across continents, finding fossil records proving the presence of ancient forests in Alaska. His journey is also in the woods with activists, biologists, and foresters and plays an important role to advocate for the unforeseeable future of our environment.

The Nature of Oaks: The Rich Ecology of Our Most Essential Native Trees By Douglas W.
