The reality is, we should be continuously doing this throughout the warmer seasons, as these weeds are harmful because they outcompete more desirable plants for nutrients, water, and sunlight. This can be done through watering or waiting for rain. Once the area is wet, grip the weed at its base, and hold it as close to the ground as possible. Make sure that you pull slowly and firmly, as pulling too quickly can snap the weed in half. If the roots are extremely deep, you might want to use a tool which specializes in plucking out these weeds.
