In our daily lives, we constantly face real-world issues, from climate change to global warming. Agroecology provides a meaningful solution for these everyday problems. This practice helps promote agriculture and ecology, improving our communities’ well-being. So let’s promote farming with nature, not against it!<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Agroecology?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The word agroecology combines the terms agriculture (\u201cagro\u201d) and ecology (\u201cecology\u201d). Instead of using harmful products in our plants, including chemical fertilizers and pesticides, agroecology promotes the use of more environmentally friendly products. It focuses on biodiversity and the traditional practices we used before harmful chemicals were introduced.<\/span><\/p>\n

Core Principles\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Biodiversity – Instead of growing crops <\/span>one at a time, agroecological farms grow <\/span>multiple crops at a time. This helps combat <\/span>climate change.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Soil Health – Keeping the soil healthy is a priority when practicing sustainable farming. This can be done by composting, cover cropping, and crop rotation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why it Matters Today<\/span><\/p>\n

Climate Change – Industrial agriculture vastly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. This can contribute to climate change, which leads to many devastating effects.<\/span><\/p>\n

Environmental Protection – Agroecology reduces pollution, protects pollinators, and restores ecosystems damaged by intensive farming.<\/span><\/p>\n
