Volunteers at Seedy Saturdays and Seedy Sundays

For more than 20 years, Seedy Saturday and Seedy Sunday events have been important venues for gathering, swapping and exchanging seeds, getting exciting varieties that other seed savers are sharing (as well as the stories that come with them), attending workshops and talks, meeting vendors, and buying seeds from seed companies. Whether you are a first-time or master gardener, seed enthusiast or expert seed saver, there really is something for everyone at these events.

All of this means that we like being there, too! Given the opportunity, Seeds of Diversity appreciates having a presence at these gatherings, as they are a wonderful chance to inform thousands of gardeners about our own  seedy story, and share information about the importance of preserving our seed heritage.

In order to have such a presence, we rely heavily on volunteers to represent us by staffing display tables at events from coast to coast. Our volunteers ensure that we are able to have a presence at many of the 170+ events that occur across the country. Our volunteers are responsible for staffing a Seeds of Diversity table, offering information to visitors about who we are, what we do, and where to go for more information.

This season, we are grateful for the more than 20 volunteers across seven provinces who dedicated their time and efforts to representing us. Amongst these individuals we'd like to recognize:

Joy Smith
Frances Thorn
Duncan Rueger
Maria Kasstan
Gordon MacPherson
Claudia Bolli
Zoe Arnold
Lorraine McDowell
Wilma de Groot-Iwanchyshyn
Jane Zednik
Elaine Rude
