Pollinator Patch: Bee Movies...with great ratings!

Will this spring bring showers? If you're in the mood to catch a flick on a rainy night, here is a list of some that feature wee, fuzzy bees, as chosen by our Pollination Canada staffer, Kim Fellows. Some are even free!!

(FREE) Watch Dennis van Engelsdorp's 16-minute TED talk

(FREE) You can watch a 45-minute documentary for FREE! It's one of David Suzuki's episodes of The Nature of Things, called To Bee or Not to Bee (aired August 28, 2010).

(FREE/$) View this enchanting 7-minute trailer that features Louie Schwartberg giving a TED talk on The Hidden Beauty of Pollination (I don't believe it has been released yet, or it certainly isn't available to purchase yet).

(FREE/$) Queen of the Sun is a gorgeous movie that screened at our local repertory cinema -- watch the trailer at this link (you can purchase a 3-day rental for $3.99) or even request a screening at your local repertory cinema.

($) There is another 53-minute documentary featured on David Suzuki's The Nature of Things, called Secret World of Bees. I couldn't find it for a free viewing, but it cost only $1.99 to purchase through iTunes (Go to the iTunes store and search the Secret World of Bees).

(FREE/$) PBS has a nature episode called Silence of the Bees but unless you live in the U.S., the rights to view it here in Canada are restricted. Sigh. You can watch a free 8-minute trailer that may lead you to buy it.

(FREE/$) Watch the trailer for Vanishing of the Bees (can purchase online for $14.99 or simply pay $3.99 for pay per view)

(FREE/$) Health and the Hive: A Beekeeper's Journal trailer may tantalize you to purchase the DVD
