You Can Rescue Endangered Seeds, Even if You Don’t Save Seeds!

Your financial support is the key to our seed exchanging, collecting, and teaching. All of our seedy services are free, for everyone. Our seed growers are volunteers, and our office costs are very basic. Just by making a charitable donation, you enable our volunteers to save, rescue, and multiply the seeds that other growers and seed companies don’t have.

Your donation will:

  • Help us enable and support volunteers to grow and save the rarest, most critically endangered seed varieties we can find.

  • Continue research into food crop diversity and seed sources, so we can locate and obtain samples of those at-risk seeds.

  • Support our national seed exchange, so thousands of gardeners can offer, request, and share the vast diversity of varieties that seed savers multiply.

  • Support our Seed Library collection, which backs up over 2500 of the rarest varieties grown by seed savers, in case anyone loses their crop due to gardening “accidents”.

  • Diversify over 170 seed swaps across Canada next winter, by helping us share surplus seeds of our growers’ rarest varieties.  And soon: with Youth Seed Stewards too!

You can help us to help seed savers, and that’s a gift that pays off in a more seed-secure future.

Where today’s rare seeds aren’t rare anymore.

Where today’s youth are tomorrow’s seed savers.

Where today’s seed insecurity is a little more secure.

In particular, the tomato was said to be prolific in producing small round salad type slicer tomatoes, on a small plant, that produced early, was resistant to common bacteria and pests in the region. This was definitely my experience with these tomatoes.

Welcome to Another Seedy Saturday Season!

Seeds of Diversity has supported Seedy Saturdays and Seedy Sundays for decades now, since the time of the first event in 1990, and we’ve gratefully ramped up that support over the last several years, first in response to the pandemic and now because there continues to be a positive response to our resources. As we continue to find ways to provide meaningful resources to help the many driven folks who make it all happen, here’s what we’re up to this cold season:
